We kept Father's Day low-key yesterday and had a nice day together as a family. We went to church in the morning, which is enough effort to drain us both for the entire day! It was great though, Olivia was really good and seems to really enjoy seeing new faces and taking in new environments. She had a special outfit on just for Daddy yesterday which got her lots of compliments at church.
When we got home, we had lunch as a family and then did some unavoidable chores (poor Matt had to mow the lawn on Father's Day thanks to all the rain the previous days which prevented him from getting it done). I stayed in with Olivia and we played until Daddy was ready to come in. For dinner, Matt wanted chicken wings so I got them from his favorite KC wing place called "The Peanut." We had a nice dinner and then finished watching The Hurt Locker which we had started on Saturday night but since we are old, it takes us 2 days to finish movies now.
We also celebrated with a few gifts. Olivia got him a Daddy/Daughter book for him to read her and the new Jack Johnson CD so he can learn new songs to play for her on his guitar. I got him a new lunch cooler for work which he was more than thrilled about since the one he currently uses to pack his lunch in holds about 1/3 of the food he consumes in a day. He also got a few small things for his upcoming camping trip to Colorado with his BFF Jon.
All in all, it was a great day. Happy Father's Day Matt! Love, Mommy & Olivia XOXO
