At the last minute our Thanksgiving plans changed so we decided to make the long drive home to Michigan for a short visit. The alternative was spending Thanksgiving here with just the three of us and since we'll be doing that for Christmas this year, we thought it would be nice to be around family.
Olivia did great on the ride home considering it is a 12 hour drive. She had a hard time adjusting at first to the fact that we were in a new place for sleeping so the first couple of nights were rough and no one got much sleep. Just as she was settling in, it was time to come home. I think we're finally back on track today with sleeping and napping which is a welcome relief.
We had a great time with family while home. Our friends who live in Alexandria were heading to Grand Rapids to spend Thanksgiving with their family so they ended up making a stop to see us. We enjoyed seeing their little girls and the chaos that it brought having three little girls in the house (plus a 4lb dog who was banished to a cage in the basement). We were also able to have a family dinner at Northwood Villa which has become a holiday tradition. It was neat to take Olivia to the place Matt and I had our rehearsal dinner and she was perfect during the entire meal!
Olivia loved seeing Bailey the cat and every time he entered the room she would start making this noise with her mouth that we'd never heard before. On the last day of our visit, we realized that she was actually trying to say "Meow" which came out as "Moww." Now, every time we say "Olivia, what sound does the kitty make?" she says "Moww" which is just so cute. She also learned to shake her head "no" which is both a blessing and a curse but it's nice that she can tell us what she does not want now!
We are thankful for so many blessings in our life and are happy we were able to share the holiday with loved ones!
