Last Sunday we drove 30 minutes to the Lousiburg Cider Mill after hearing "rave" reviews about the place for the last 2 years. We had visions of row after row of lovely pumpkins, the smell of cider and donuts and lots of great picture taking opportunities. We were highly disappointed. As Cider Mills go, it had all the usual: cider, cinnamon and sugar donuts, and pumpkins. However, the first negative was the layout which placed the pumpkin patch and the cider mill/store at opposite ends of this enormous parking lot. The other downside is that you had to pay $8/person to get INTO the pumpkin patch! And that ridiculous price did not even include the cost of a pumpkin! There were other things to do such as hayrides, a corn maze, etc. but none of those things are all that attractive to parents of a 9 month old. So, after walking from the store to the pumpkin patch where we received this annoying news, we ended up picking up a pumpkin in this little section outside of the entry point which Matt then had to schlep all the way back to our car. We had a good time anyway but we were not impressed. Uncle John's Cider Mill in Michigan - we miss you!!!
We celebrated Halloween all week long. I took Olivia to a Halloween Party for the breastfeeding group that we've been going to since she was born. There were lots of babies in cute costumes from newborns through 1 year. It was fun to go and reunite with all the moms I met when Olivia was just a few weeks old. We also had a Gymboree Halloween party on Thursday where all the babies wore their costumes reluctantly and all the moms tried to get 1,000 pictures. Also a fun time, and we certainly got our money's worth out of the $7 second-hand bee costume!
On Halloween, we had a few friends over with their babies to have a little adult party and show off the kiddos in their outfits. We walked Olivia to a few of our neighbors houses afterwards and then called it a day.
This little girl, Ella, was also born on 1-15-10 at the same hospital!
