Date Night & Celebrating Daddy!

Last weekend was busy! In addition to celebrating Father's Day, Matt and I attended a wedding for one of his co-workers on Saturday evening. It was nice to get out for a few hours and spend time with other adults. We didn't stay too late but had a nice time. This was our first date night in quite awhile so it was good to get out.
Sunday was Father's Day and we got up and headed to the zoo in the morning. This was our first trip to the zoo and it was a great time. We took Olivia to the sea lion show which she loved! She kept saying "ooooooooh" whenever the sea lion came out of the water and did a trick. We also saw the polar bear which is one of the big exhibits right now. He was very active in and out of the water so that was really neat and we all enjoyed watching him. We also saw kangaroos, monkeys, sheep, birds of all kinds, and camels. Later in the afternoon we went to the pool at Lifetime Fitness to try and swim. The outdoor pool had just been closed due to a cleanup so we hung out at the indoor pool. Olivia is still pretty terrified of the water. Just like last summer, she initially starts to cry when we take her in. We're trying to slowly warm her up to the idea of the pool and each time gets a little bit better. She is extremely cautious and I think the size of the pool just overwhelms her. Yesterday she let us stand her in the water (with alot of coaxing and while still touching Mom & Dad) and she even put her hand in on her own to splash a little. We got her to walk about 2-3 feet back and forth between Matt and I and she seemed okay with that although needed alot of hugs and snuggling whenever she reached the other person. It will take some time but we're hoping she begins to like the water a little bit more.
