We made the trip to Michigan once again this year but unfortunately had to travel separately instead of as a family. With Matt's work schedule he wasn't able to take as much time off as he'd hoped and we were trying to keep costs down with flights and travel.
It ended up that I flew out with Olivia two days before Matt joined us in the mitten. The flight went remarkably more smoothly than our flights to and from DC in June. The key this time was that we were not traveling during naptime! She loved the plane, loved the people on the plane and was her usual outgoing self. She even stroked the man's leg sitting next to us and proclaimed "FUZZY!" (he was wearing shorts and had typical hairy-man legs). I'm not sure he appreciated this but it was good entertainment :) She also had to point out his phone, hat, glasses, and elbows multiple times during the flight. On the way home from Michigan, we barely made it to our connection (literally, we were the last people to get on the plane) due to a weather delay with our first flight. We ended up in the dead middle of the plane on an aisle seat - awwwweesome. All things considered, she did fairly well and made several new friends. She managed to charm the man across the aisle (she wore his hat and held his phone most of the plane trip), all the flight attendants, and the entire row of people behind us. She also proudly decorated this man's arm who was blessed enough to be sitting in the middle seat next to us.
We had a good time visiting family and friends despite the scorching temperatures. Matt and I even snuck away for a great date day of fun at Cedar Point. Here's a little recap of our summer vacay.
